Built by a CPA, for real households

Budget Pilot exists because the budgeting apps that disappeared were actually doing something useful — and the ones that replaced them don't.

Why I built Budget Pilot

“Most budgeting apps are built for spreadsheets. Real families need an operating system.”

I have spent over 15 years as a licensed CPA and more than two decades analyzing, reconciling, and reporting on business finances. I understand debits, credits, balance sheets, and tax compliance inside and out.

But more importantly? I’m a father and stepfather in a busy, blended family.

If you have ever tried managing finances across multiple households, kids’ activities, joint accounts, and individual expenses, you know that standard budgeting apps simply aren’t built for real life. When Mint shut down, I tested nearly every alternative on the market. While there are good tools out there, none of them solved the real challenges modern families face: tracking multiple accounts across different institutions without broken connections, automating the tedious categorization work without losing control, handling true debt payoff math (principal vs. interest) and long-term planning, and viewing household finances with the clarity of a real financial statement — not just backward-looking pie charts.

After years of falling back on my own complex spreadsheets, I decided to build the solution myself. I combined my 20 years of professional accounting experience with modern technology to create Budget Pilot — a financial operating system designed specifically for the realities of modern, multi-account households.

Budget Pilot wasn’t built to chase venture capital or harvest user data for credit card ads. It was built because parents and families deserve an honest, powerful, CPA-grade tool to master their finances at a fair, sustainable price.

I hope it brings your household the same peace of mind and clarity it has brought mine.
